Is the Gulabi Mask Clean?

Over the years that we spent developing Gulabi, we often came across questions like these: “Is this mask clean? Is it made without [insert ingredient here]?”

We’ll answer the questions straight away as we know that you have important reasons for asking. But please! Read on to understand our philosophy on calling ourselves “clean.”

Our Gulabi Gentle Exfoliating Mask is certified to be:

  • Sulfate-free (including SLS)
  • Silicone-free
  • Paraben-free
  • Phthalate-free
  • Synthetic-fragrance free
  • Artificial-dye free
  • Essential-oil free
  • Mineral-oil free
  • Drying-alcohols free

Gulabi also:

  • Contains no SVHC (EU ECHA Substances of Very High Concern), no CMRs (Carcinogens, Mutagens and/or Reprotoxic substances), and no nano-materials as outlined in the EU Cosmetic Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009

Now for our philosophy.

At Sift, we try to avoid using weighty terms without giving clear definitions, and we think that the word “clean” can, in certain scenarios, be a bit unclear. This doesn’t mean that other brands, publications or retailers who use the “clean” terminology are in the wrong. It just means that we don’t want to use that term without sharing the definition that we’re speaking to. We aren’t excited about using vague terms, making you feel scared, nor calling other products out in the world “dirty.”  We’d rather tell you about the incredible ingredients that ARE in our products.

After all, when it comes to the family history behind Sift, our aunties never explained a recipe by saying which ingredients they did not use.

With that said, we also understand that many folks have valid and fair reasons for avoiding specific ingredients. We do want to provide all the information you need to make sure that our products are right for you. Many organizations and companies are explicit about their standards of “clean” now, and we similarly value being clear about how we formulate. So yes, to be specific, Gulabi is free from the ingredients listed above. We hope that information is helpful if you’re seeking it.

Please remember: there is always more we can share. For example, synthetic-fragrance-free is different from fragrance-free . A carrier oil is different from an essential oil. There is so much that goes into a formula, including product safety testing.

We aim to give you all the information that you care to sift through. And you can always, always, reach out to us with your specific questions at care@withsift.com.
